Situated close to the river Allier and the Forêt de Tronçais, Lurcy-Lévis is the most prominent within the “canton” of communes known as Pays-de-Lévis. A village of 2125 inhabitants, known as “Lurcyquois” it comprises of some 7140 hectares (22,000 acres) of unspoilt countryside, richly cultivated with meadows bordered by hedgerows giving rise to the common name “bocage” attached to this region.
In the words of the Mayor of the village, Monsieur Jacques Bourdier, “this little town may be rural, but it possesses many assets.
Touristic appeal :
The geographical situation close to the Allier river, and its numerous lakes for fishing (with 30 acres more earmarked for future creation). For nature lovers, the ancient Forêt de Tronçais – one of the largest in Europe, offers walks and is excellent for cycling.
For lovers of ancient stone buildings, the “Eglise St Martin” will appeal, with its jewel of Roman art of the XIth and XIIth centuries (classified “Monument historique” in 1937). There are also numerous “châteaux” to be found in the immediate vicinity.
For those attracted to curiosities (“amateurs d’insolites”) you will find the velodrome of interest – one of the oldest in France and again in activity (constructed 1897).
Local Industry and Commerce – looking to the future.
A racing car circuit with the largest lane in Europe offers scope close to that of the “stables of Formula 1”
There is also a leading industry in plastics manufacturing goods for cosmetic companies worldwide.

Within a natural framework in edge of the river "Anduise", a water level arranged of 10 hectares accomodates you in the vicinity immediate of the city. It has a vast zone of leisures, sport and relaxation with the following activities: - fishing with chart day labourer or annual (carps, let us keep, tenches and pikes) - walk on the banks of 1.8 km with course of health and a circuit VTT - varied play- grounds: table tennis, game of bowls, plays for children. - Surfaces of picnic - Surfaces of supply planned for the motor homes with carparks, not of domestic water and electricity, for the tourists of passage For the periods of opening of fishing, you can inform yourselves near the Office of Tourism.
